ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG49WCD Unveiled Featuring 49" QD
ASUS unveiled its brand-new entrant in the curved gaming monitor lineup, the ROG Swift OLED PG49WCD featuring several cutting-edge capabilities.
The Asus ROG Swift OLED PG49WCD is a large 49″ super ultrawide display featuring a QD-OLED panel with a maximum resolution of 5120 x 1440. The display is a curved format screen with a 1800R curvature. It offers true 10-bit color and covers 99% of the cinema-grade DCI-P3 color gamut, meeting the VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 certification requirements.
There's a 0.03ms response time and a 144Hz refresh rate on the ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG49WCD display, backed by adaptive sync for VRR supported by both NVIDIA and AMD. It also features a high 1000 nits brightness rating to ensure visibility in all circumstances. Some of the highlighted features of the new gaming display include:
I/O on the ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG49WCD display includes DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.1, high-bandwidth USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A, and other connectors available on the PG49WCD. A 90W full-function USB Type-C connector is also included, allowing you to charge a connected device even while you have it attached to the display.
It's reasonable to assume that a monitor with such a large panel would potentially heat up. However, ASUS has taken the following measures to mitigate this problem:
To help ensure a long product lifespan, to minimize the risk of burn-in, and to allow the ROG Swift PG49WCD to deliver dazzling highlights, we outfitted this monitor with a substantial cooling solution. In any OLED monitor, two components are primarily responsible for generating heat. The first is the mainboard which processes all display signals. A large and efficient custom heatsink keeps this board cool without the need for a noisy, distracting fan.
Second, the OLED panel itself generates heat. To dissipate it silently and effectively, we install a graphene film behind the entire panel. The thinnest yet strongest nanomaterial in the world, graphene has a thermal conductivity coefficient of up to 5,300 W/mk.
ASUS has gone innovative with the monitor stand with a tripod mount to ensure stability. It has also added a USB port to allow additional support and flexibility. In terms of the aesthetics of the monitor, you can't go wrong with ASUS, especially with their ROG series. The monitor features the standard ROG branding at the back, which seems to be illuminated. It features the same black metallic design as the other ASUS ROG monitors out there.
This monitor will be a part of ASUS's showcase at Computex 2023, which is being held in Taipei. ASUS has won the "Best Choice" award for its display lineup; hence we can't wait to bring everything to our readers straight from the show floor.
